INEOS Seal Sands plant is located in Teeside, UK. It is Europe's largest purified acetonitrile-producing facility. Seal Sands uses leading INEOS technology, which is also used at the Green Lake plant in Port Lavaca, Texas.

The acetonitrile produced at Seal Sands, is purified and then sold to customers in Europe. It is primarily used as a solvent in the pharmaceutical industry for the manufacture of a variety of drug intermediates including antibiotics, insulin, as well as vitamins. It is also used as a solvent in agrochemical production and butadiene extraction.
